"The event is furrier and friendlier than ever.  It has become a major event for locals as well as visitors.  We receive hundreds of phone calls asking when the greyhounds are coming.  It is a wonderful event for local business owners.  The Chamber of Commerce's mission is to 'promote business, tourism, and civic responsibility.'  This event couldn't fit any closer with that mission."

"In 1995, the first year the greyhounds came, 20 of our 60 rooms were booked with greyhound people.  By the second year, all 60 rooms were booked, and they still needed more space."

"Most of the town's rooms were booked the second year of the event, and all of them were booked the third year."

"I love having them.  They are really nice dogs.  I tell other proprietors, 'Just let greyhounds take a couple rooms one year and see how it goes.'  Then maybe they'll open their whole place when they see how well behaved they are."

"At first the residents didn't know why the dogs were here.  Now people come out to see the dogs.  I get lots of calls asking 'when will the greyhounds be here?'"

"The greyhound group is the nicest group to visit Dewey Beach.  They are a joy to have around."

"We have a ball when they come.  We have outside seating, and we provide water bowls for the dogs."

"We have many pictures.  In Town Hall there is a collage of the greyhounds.  I'm just tickled that they come here."

"I'm as eccentric as hell.  Every now and then I have to do something to prove that.  Ha ha. You can tell them I give good copy."

"We love the greyhound group.  They are very nice, compassionate people.  You know if people are adopting greyhounds they are nice people.  It is great to see them walking all over town, and they attract lots of other leisure travelers to the area."

"We keep dog biscuits in the lobby for the Greyhounds.  It's a group of great pet owners."

"The Greyhounds have brought a lot to this area, and they're welcome in my store.  It was a dead weekend before, and it's just mushroomed.  It's great having more people here during a shoulder season.   Do you want a couple dog beds for your event?  I'd be happy to donate them if it helps the Greyhounds."
